About the event

Steve Logan is a prolific Welsh songwriter and rock musician. In response to his 2019 album, Shaking Hands with the Devil, he was called 'The Neil Young of the Valleys'. Steve sings, plays guitar (electric, acoustic, bass), harmonica and keys. Main influences, Free, Neil Young and The Manic Street Preachers.

Steve wrote his first song at 14 and joined his first band the following year. He’s released six solo albums and is currently working on his seventh. He has played in cover bands, indie bands, busked and fronted a tribute to Free.

Expect high octane rock, songs wistful acoustic ballads, lyrics in love with poetry and, as Sue Marchard of BBC Radio Cambridge said, 'a voice he can take with him anywhere'.

Reviews of his current album, Psych Ward, have been glowing:

‘A preacher of the fantastic with the soul of a poet’ (Liverpool Sound and Vision)

'The sound is both rich and tight-knit – Logan playing guitars, bass, keyboards, harmonica, with further support from James Hargreaves (also the Producer) on guitars, keyboards, programming and effects and Nigel Elliott driving the pace on drums. I’ve written ‘rich’ because of the layers on the recording, but there’s also the rawness to the songs that Logan gets when he’s on top form – partly the lead guitar that sometimes spits, partly the drums, all held together by Logan’s vocal which delivers his imagery-laden lyrics with both the ferocious tone of a punk poet and the melodic sense of a top 40 rock record’ - (Folking.com)

'Steve Logan is a lifer in this game. One of those artists I love that’s not in it for the money and the fame, but just because he loves it – and crucially has something to say. “Psych Ward” is crazy good.’ - Andy Thorley (Maximum Volume Music)

For thisshow, Steve and his band Geronimo will play a set of Steve's own songs followed by a set of songs by Neil Young including favourites, like 'Cortez', 'Southern Man' and 'Rockin in the Free World'.
