About the event

Learn how to use the highly adaptable, beginner-friendly medium of gouache in this five-week course, taught by professional gouache artist Julia Tooley.

You'll start by getting to grips with the paint, learning to achieve the right consistency, mixing colours, and trying simple, fun exercises. You'll then explore the techniques available, with lots of demonstrations and time to practice. Once you feel confident, you'll work on a couple of smaller, simple paintings before progressing to a full landscape and/or still-life painting.

Over five weeks, you will also look at how gouache is used by other artists, both historically and today, and will talk about how best to look after your completed paintings.

Suitable for complete beginners, this is a friendly, supportive course with lots of time for questions and practical advice.
